Poker is a game of chance played by players with a standard deck of cards. The main goal is to get as many chips from your opponents as possible. Several variations exist, and each one has its own rules. However, the basic rules of poker remain unchanged.<\/p>\n
Each hand of poker consists of five cards. Cards are ranked from Ace to Ace. Ties are broken when a high card is found. When there are two or more identical hands, the highest unmatched card breaks the tie.<\/p>\n
Players can discard a maximum of three cards. Cards can be face down or face up. Chips are typically black or red.<\/p>\n
Poker can be played with any number of players. However, it is usually played with a minimum of six to eight players.<\/p>\n
The standard pack of cards is 52 cards. Depending on the game, the player may be required to place an ante before the deal. This ante is based on the amount of money that the game will involve.<\/p>\n
The first player to make a bet is called the bettor. If another player matches, that player is called a caller. In later betting intervals, a check is made by a player. To check, a player must be sure no one has bet yet.<\/p>\n
